This hair studio inside a Singapore hotel was designed by Japanese architect Teruhiro Yanagihara and is meant to emulate the angular forms of icebergs. The faceted walls are integrated with a series of moveable panels that can be folded in and out to create private or open spaces for cutting hair, events, or concerts. The iceberg design serves as a architectural metaphor for the way that “cool” Japanese designers flock to tropical Singapore to create funky hair styles. Like icebergs drifting in the open ocean, these professionals were created in a climate far from the one they are in. It’s a great example of multipurpose, modular design, and would be a great place to get a super “cool” cut. Check out some more images below.
