This old-fashioned barber shop looks like it’s straight out of 1930’s Brooklyn. But The New York Barbershop is actually only a couple of years old and is in the middle of Rotterdam, The Netherlands – such is the power of the illusion. But it’s not all fakery though. The building the shop is located in shares a historic connection to the city formerly called “New Amsterdam”. It was once the headquarters of the Holland America Cruise Line and for decades it served at the starting point for thousands of emigrants’ journey to America.
Many years later you can get a haircut and an Italian shave from a master barber, while enjoying a coffee or a glass of wine with other worldly folks. The shop also doubles as a film set and is available as a backdrop for movies and photo shoots. Their specialty is still a good shave and a moment of relaxation. It’s a little bit of New World charm in the centre of the Old. Check out some more images below.
