From bushy beards, to expertly-styled moustaches, it was a big year for facial hair at Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Week in Milan and Paris. Although the majority of guys on the catwalk were cleanly shaven and perfectly coiffed, models sporting unruly facial hair of all varieties popped up on more runways than usual. Particularly popular was one red-haired moustachioed chap who appeared at Junya Watanabe and Paul Smith among others. Dude’s sculpted stache nearly stole the show.
The award for the wildest style goes to the guys at John Galliano, who seemed to be using their beards to protect them from a Siberian blizzard. Over at D&G, the looks were more restrained but still deserving of notable mention. The model’s slicked back do’s were our favourite hairstyles of the lot.
The guy with the best beard though was a blonde fellow who looked like he might-well have been discovered in the Amish region of Pennsylvania. His beard had a distinctly days-gone-by look that was completely unpretentious, though perhaps not as wearable for the average guy. Check out our round-up of the best grooming looks of the Milan and Paris runway shows. Oh, and the clothes are good too.
