This shaving set was created by designer Jacques-Elie Craig Ribeyron as the main component of his diploma project at the Ecole Cantonale d’art de Lausanne, the well-known Swiss design school. The set is made from stainless steel and is coated in black PVD plastic, while moving parts are joined together with wing-nuts.
Ribeyron explains that the goal was to give these objects an industrial machine-like feel and to make them as durable as possible. He also wanted to reference to the act of shaving as it was in the 1950’s, and to recapture some of that feeling with this set’s vintage feel. Ribeyron won the 2010 ECAL Prix d’ecxellence for his design. The set includes a trimmer, razor, and brush, and takes standard blades.
