Chronic collaborators Monocle have teamed up with Monocle on a third fragrance in their series, this one called ‘Sugi’. Sugi – also known as Japanese cedar – is popular as an ornamental plant in Japan and has a delicate, clean and energising fragrance. With the success of their first two offerings – Hinoki and Laurel – they’ve returned with a scent developed in Paris by Antoine Maisondieu and comes in a Monocle-designed bottle and box. It’s a refreshing unisex scent that’s light but sophisticated, beginning with top notes of Mediterranean cypress and pepper from Madagascar, followed by iris from Florence and cedar from Virginia, and finished with pine and Haitian vetiver. Although they can no longer ship fragrance outside the UK for online orders, you can pop into a Monocle shop in New York, Hong Kong or Toronto to pick up a bottle.
