When Sports Illustrated took on the task of compiling the ‘Best Beards in Sports History’, we admit we scoffed a little. ‘Don’t they mean, ‘hockey’, not ‘sports?’” But turns out that even though the boys on the ice have taken to growing out their beards during playoff season for superstitious purposes, plenty of other sports have seen their share of follicle fortitude over the years.
